Roseville Parks, Recreation & Libraries is one of four finalists for the prestigious National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management in the population class of 150,001 to 400,000.

The Gold Medal Awards program, offered by the American Academy for Parks and Recreation (AAPRA) in partnership with the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA), honors  communities in the U.S. that demonstrate excellence in parks and recreation through long-range planning, resource management, volunteerism and more.

One of the recent parks to be completed in Roseville is Solaire Park, a 8.74-acre school park located off Solaire and Solar Point Drive in the Westbrook area. On the approval meeting of the city council Tara Gee, Parks Planning & Development Manager and Jill Geller, Parks, Recreation & Libraries Director said that the park’s design elements allude to the solar system and educational science referring to the decision to install a Solar System Trail on the grounds.
